Today I was following Bill who had planned a short 550k or so lap with a bit of everything. So I jumped on the Super Tenere and met Bill at a servo close buy. Bill was on his Versys. While I never get bored on a bike, the less exciting part of the day was done and dusted first with a ride up the New England through Singleton and Scone. A good chunk fo that was in fog.
A quick stop at Aberdeen
From Scone we turned left towards Merriwa and took te Bunnan Road which turns into the Scone-Merriwa Road. A very nice ride with a corner here and there as you split some hills. We stopped at Merriwa to toop up the fuel which would see us have enough to finish the ride off. Here we are at Merriwa
Then heading west we turned off at Ulan Road then another left onto Wollar Road which initially took us through some serious new mining. The tar ended for a while and we were on some nice easy gravel so it was down on the traction control and up on the pegs for a while. A bit of tar then took us into Wollar, a nice little town in the middle of, I'm not sure. there was a beautiful little church on the way out of town
Back into the gravel through some farmland with lots of cows, sensational riding. A couple of big trucks soming the other way here and there but otherwise silent.
This road took us to just east of Bylong where we headed for the general store for some ham, cheese and tomato toasties and one of their sensational hot chocolates (real man food).
Then it was the Bylong Valley Way, always a treat to ride. I managed to get a bit ahead of Bill and snapped him on the way past.
Before Denman we turned onto Rosemount Road and took the back road to Jerry's Plains before we were back on the Golden Highway, the New England and back home via the Hunter Expressway.
